  • Rendering Irradiance map with "Incremental add to current map" crashes Max.

I'm trying to render a general GI solution for an environment by having a camera shoot the environment from several different angles.
I'm using Irradiance map in "Incremental add to current map" mode and Light Cache for secondary bounce.
For some reason, once the the first frame finishes, Max crashes every time.

The environment is mostly composed of clouds made out of VRayEnvironmentFog using geometries as gizmos. When I tried to remove most of the gizmos the render managed to run without crashes, but as I added more and more gizmos it starts to crash. This lead me to believe that maybe this is RAM related, but my RAM is not being topped off at any point. Also tried to turn the Dynamic Mem. Limit to 0, but that also didn't help.

    We're on Max 2016 and are using V-Ray 3.50.04

Any help would be very much appreciated,

    Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to send us a test scene at support@chaosgroup.com so we could try tor replicate the issue. Also could you preproduce the crash, and then send us the 3dsmax_minidump and vraylog files located in "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp"
