  • 3.60.03 VRayTriplanarTex producing strange stripe artifacts

    Hi,

I got a weird problem with VRayTriplanarTex in a very simple setup:

One plane with a simple material using tiled exrs via VRayHDRI loader, see attached images (nvm the displacement, it's disabled)
Yet the mapping produces really weird artifacts, as shown in the attached images.

As soon as I disable the BumpMap the artifacts are gone.

Any Idea what could be going on here?

Hi, I can't get that result, can you attach the scene?

    Best regards,

It is very strange. I will upload a scene file to your FTP soon and will reply to this post when it's done.

When I saved the scene for archiving/uploading I reduced the texture resolution to 4k, down from 20k for easier file transfer (still tiled exr). Funnily enough, the 4k texture didn't give these artifacts AT FIRST. Since I couldn't believe it, I re-loaded the 20k texture, and the artifacts were present again. When I then, in the same max session, loaded the 4k texture again, the artifacts persisted and were visible when using the 4k texture. So you might wanna try and swap textures around or something or make an upscaled version to reproduce the bug.

Edit: For system/software specs see my signature.

We had the same thing yesterday, as soon as I turned the bump down it was gone.
I put it down to the bump being too high (200) was fine at 100 for example.

Well, for me it happened at low bump values, too . Very strange. Let's hope the CG guys can track it down.

We found a circle-like artifact in your textures. See the attached screenshots where the exposure and the gamma are set to make it as visible as possible. Please try with another texture and report if something strange shows up.

                      Hi,
I've uploaded a new texture on your FTP, responded to the ticket via mail. Same issue. Just swapped out the texture and adjusted size of VRayTriplanarTex to 50cm. See attached Screenshots

I forgot to replace the actual diffuse texture in the last edit of this post, corrected the mistake, issue is still present. file on ftp is still valid, here are two new screenshots:
