When I carry out the above operation whilst using VrayRT quite often it causes Max 2016 to crash. Material changes seem fine.

I myself could pretty much send any scene I work on, as it happens 95% of the time. I just learnt to save before going into Active Shade RT or Iterative Rendering, because it would crash in larger scenes. It happens to anyone here at the office on any rendering we work on that is more than just a single object. The scene can be smallish or big and it will still happen.
