  • Lock IPR to a view?

I was wondering if there is a way to lock IPR to my camera view?

Currently when its active it jumps from viewport to viewport as I navigate around max (top/left/perspective etc).

Ive tried locking "view to render" in the Render setup menu, but that seems not to work in IPR.

It works, it just may not update correctly. Try to first enable the lock, and then restart the IPR session.

You can create a button with this mxs code to do this:

rendUseActiveView = false -- enables view render lock
vrayStartIPR() -- starts VRay VFB in IPR mode

        Well, it doesn´t.
In interactive render mode (Vray 3.6) the viewport gets rendered that you´re working in. Which is...really sad. Because why have an interactive mode if your render simply gets overwritten. And yes, Locked the Render to the camera before I started the render.

Works fine over here. Can you record a short video to check what’s going on?

          Best regards,

The lock button in the render settings locks the connection between the VFB and a viewport. Once set, you can do all the stuff in the other viewports without changing the perspective for the render.
Took me a while to realize that it works that way.

For anyone reading this later, the solution for locking the camera view is not in this thread and not super intuitive if you're used to working in a maximized viewport in Max as I am. Here's how you preserve the camera view whilst working in another view.

              1. In the render setup, enable the lock icon next to the VRAY camera. Enable IPR from your camera view and once set, don't change this to any other view.

              2. Enable quad view (exit maximized viewport) and then select any panel that isn't the camera view. Feel free to switch views there and work orthogonally or in Perspective view as you like. The camera view with IPR remains active, so you can see your model update (with one lighting setup) as you work.

That's it. Intuitively, I would expect to be able to lock the camera view and then switch that viewport to a front or side view, but that's not how it works. Took me a while to figure this out!

That is indeed how the max camera locking works.
There will be a better way to do this on our side soon enough.
