  • Sum of VrayLightSelect elements differ from VrayLighting

    Hi all,

I'm trying to recreate beauty pass from elements, in Photoshop with EXR, 32 bits file.

GI + Lighting + Specular + Reflections + Refractions matches the RGB layer.

I've read that the sum of VrayLightSelect elements should be equal to the Lighting element, but it's not the case in my scene.
When i replace the Lighting pass with the sum of the VrayLightSelect passes, it doesn't match at all...

I have five Vraylights in my scene, each one has a render element in "full" mode (see attached for render elements parameters).
Here are two images. First one is the VrayLighting pass, second one is the sum of my five lights VrayLightSelect elements (merged with "Color Dodge (Add)" in PS).

Any idea of what could be the problem ?

    Thanks !

Full mode of Light Select elements also contains information about the GI, SSS, reflection, refraction and etc so combining all Light Select elements in that mode will not be equal to Lighting Element.
If mode is set to Direct Diffuse then the sum of Lighting Elements should be equal to the Lighting Element.

Compositing Light Select elements in Full mode will require some additional modifications in the comp, like for example excluding the duplicated information from the composition.
Yes in Full mode part of the information like GI for example will be placed in GI and in Light Select element, so when you add those two element together without excluding the duplicated data you will have doubled contribution of the GI for that particular light.

Do you have something in the Environment - Background slot like VRaySky? Note that the lighting from there is not added to any of the Light Select passes.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
