  • Using vray dirt in reflection occlusion mode in an extra tex map breaks the reflection render element!

    Hi Folks!

Might be a known thing. I was trying to give a comper a reflection matte for a few objects in the main render but it seems that it breaks the reflection element. It's as if the data from the reflect occlusion gets overlaid on the reflection element as seen in the image below. The region render has the extratex turned off and it's working fine, the main region has the extra tex on with the dirt using a small radius which doesn't 100% cover the sphere.

    Hi,

This is due to the new option of the Dirt map which allows you to affect the reflection element as well. You can turn it off in your case.

      Ah sneaky!

Cheers for the pointer, back to having everything in one pass again!

Just curious, what would be the use case for wanting this?

It should be useful for selections or mask creation for the reflective objects in the scene.

Ah - I understand it as a handy selection / matte thing in an extratex but I don't get why people would ever want it to also affect the reflection element!
