Don't buy dell or alienware, it's best building your own system with the most documented motherboards maybe find one with good tutorial on how to overclock. I bought mine from Alienware cause there was a huge rebate. The upgrade to this cpu was 200$ instead of 2000$. The price was up only a few hours and they honored it. But even with that rebate if you build your own system and get your components at the boxing day you should pay even less that what alienware charges.

Did another render last night and my first computer crashed after an hour. My new one didn't crash. So maybe the initial wrong setting on my first computer has made the cpu defective. Maybe wait until there is an official answer/bug fix from Intel about this or you could loose a lot of time. I also suspect my first computer bios to be buggy (it shows only 16 cpu in the per core overclock setting while my new computer with an updated bios that I can't download anywhere shows all 18 cores).

Sounds like you either have a mobo issue or cpu issue. Its rare but its possible, I recall I had one i7 which had a bugged cpu, and it bsoded. I built 3 systems and one was faulty. Sounds like you can send that to alienware back and get a new one perhaps?

I changed the mobo and it did nothing. And I saw many people on adobe, intel and alienware forum with X299 chipset and skylake cpu having the same issue so it's definitely a manufacturing flaw. Thanks to Puget System for discovery that flaw: https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/su...X-SOLVED-1042/
