  • Render Mask VFB not clearing after each frame

We ran a animation with Render Mask include/exclude enabled. There was only one object added to the include list. What seems to have happened is that the VFB wasn't clearing after each frame so we would have that object overlapping itself in subsequent frames. Thoughts?

    Hello

There is an option what to happen with the previous VFB image in animations - the default is "Unchanged" so the object is overlapping. If you set it to "Clear" - it will clear after each frame.

Where in the UI do I find this option? The link you provided has gone dead. I'm still using Vray Next.

... I found it now, under settings -> system, but very well hidden! You have to turn on "advanced", and the drop-down window is unreadable.

It would be nice if by default it could be cleared for animations, while for stills it is probably more practical to keep the unchanged option.

Yes! And ideally you have one setting for Animation and one Setting for Stills. These would be saved with the scene, but default to clear for animation, saved for stills.

Weird, but I just rendered an entire animation with rendermask, and even though this setting was set to clear, the subsequent frames are trailing in the transparent areas during the entire animation. I use V-ray 5.2 in Max 2021.
The animation was submitted to Backburner, but the setting should follow the file right?

Can anyone confirm if it is working or not?

The issue seems to be happening again. I am using Max 2022 with Vray 5 Update 2 and the same thing is happening for me. It is set to Clear after the frame completes and I'm using Object IDs as a render mask:

                      Please advise.

                      Thanks

Ah, sorry, I was confused, I thought the Update 2 was what you guys meant when you referred to the hotfix. Yes, after installing the hotfix the issue is fixed. Sorry for the confusion.

                          Thanks
