  • black Outline around highlights

    Hi,

I got a problem with dark lines around highlights in reflections. How can I avoid such outlines. If I used "quadratic" all spots seems to be gone, but offcourse all a little bit blurry.
So it isn?t a good solution. Maybe anyone can help me out here.

This effect is caused by sharp aliasing filters like Catmull-Rom, Mitchell-Netravali and the like. Use a slightly softening one like VrayLanczos or Area.

More specifically, by the negative component of the kernel curve in the sharpening functions.
Lanczos too, by desing, would have such a negative part to itself, but the V-Ray variant has been made without it.
It maintains sharp features, as it comes with defaults, much like a no-filter would, while avoiding NaNs (your black lines).

HI, thanks for your advice, I switched to area 1,5. Post my results today with vray3.6.

This Problem i guess, in lower vray versions (2,4) this was working well with sharp filters.
