I'm also using vrayaerialperspective to simulate a distant fog. Turning this off reduces the flickering substantially but there is still some there. I need to use vrayaerialperspective as this gives the entire scene a final look.
Put lightcache to 3000 and retrace to 8.0. Also a noise threshold of 0.025 and such a small resolution isn't really helping to determine correct settings
I think it might be linked to the light evaluation. I've tried raising it from 8 to 16 and the flickering reduces. I'm trying 32 now to see how that looks.
It was a combination of raising the min subdivs, max subdivs, adapative light amount (biggest effect). All solved now but I think the render will take quite a bit longer!
