  • vray next beta crashes - forest pack

    Hi guys

    When i try and create a new material, i get a dialgue box that opens and it then crashes max. See attached.
    Ive had the latest version of forst installed and i tried installing the latest forest beta - same issue.

    Might be a silly question, but did you install the Forest beta that works with NEXT beta?

      Yes i have the current vray next beta 3 (4.02.03) and the forest pack beta 6.03 - does it work for you?

        I haven't tried it with the V-Ray released today, but prior to today's it worked.

          Just installed the latest V-Ray and are not alone, Forest is now broke.

            ok i have a workaround - use the old material browser and it works just fine.

              oh hang on - i tried to create a forest object and it crashed.... so nop... not playing nice together.

                I'll wait. Too early for workarounds. I posted it on the iToo forum, so hopefully, it is a quick fix on their end.

                        Same here, something seems to break the compatibility. Also confirmed by Peter from Chaos in this thread so I had to revert back to Beta 2 until an appropriate version is released. For me it render fine but only If I increase the "Max faces" parameter in Display rollout. For exterior scenes though you have to increase this to some crazy values like close to a billion for the objects to appear in the rendering and it crashes Max due to insufficient memory. For some very sparse scattering it will work fine(ish) but expect large memory consumption.
