  • Feature request: Can failign to connect to a DR node be considered an ERROR and not a WARNING

I spent half my life closing down the VRAY information window, but I often only ever need it to diagnose a scene (in which case I turn it to errors only).

I think failing to connect to a DR node is an error, and we could all do with a less cluttered workspace!

In this regard, I'm kind of a nerd and I like to see log things. An integrated/docked version, integrated into the VFB, and being able to open/close it like some kind of dropdown-section on the bottom of the VFB would be nice. Or below the default 3ds max rendering status window.
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

    DxDiag

You can still be a nerd and log things. It all goes in the log. In fact, being a nerd as you are, I'm surprised you didn't know that the option existed.

You can decide whether not to show the log, to show the log on warning, or to show the log on error.

Most of the time everything is OK, so we don't need to see the log - I am simply saying that not finding a DR node when DR mode is activated, is a error, and it could therefore mean we don't have to keep having the bloody log screen on all the time when everything works with the scene, which we know works with the scene, when finding a DR node is the only variable left.

We considered this and it would indeed be nice to have, so hopefully we'll get to that at some point.

Will have to think about that. A missing DR node doesn't technically cause the image to fail to render, it's just slower... and you can always add the node mid-render. So technically it's not really an error.

I guess the issue is that you don't want to have the V-Ray messages window pop up for this specific case. There might be another way to deal with this this, just have to think about it.
