  • GPU rendering and Geforce 1080 ti card problem

    Re-posting this from Hardware.

Does Vray 3.6 GPU rendering work with a geforce 1080 ti card? I've never had a card that supports this so I'm trying it for the first time but when I select CUDA cores and try to render it says no CUDA 2 device found.

    Hi,
the answer is "Yes" you can. It detects 2 devices because it most probably also detects your CPU which you can also use as a CUDA device to render alongside with your GTX1080 in hybrid mode for faster results. For more information please take a look at the link at the bottom. In the V-Ray Render Devices Selection section you can find some more information on how to setup your GPU for rendering with V-Ray.

Thanks Shaio but I realise I've posted this in the Maya forum by mistake, should have been for Max, the answer is probably the same but i'll repost it to be sure.

        Update your driver.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

I think the machine just needed a reboot after installing vray, seems to be picking it up OK now.
