  • Trying to render a large file - 4k across everyting is fine, 5k all geometry is transparent.

This is killing me at the moment.

Client wants a 6k across render - it should be simple, but I keep getting unhandled exception errors, crashes. Etc

Why would it render ok at 3k, or 4k, and then at a certain memory size, just refuse to draw soem of the geometry.

I have tried it with the last stable vray and now vray beta next

    Hello,

There is an issue in the latest builds when rendering with Embree ON - if you run out of memory parts of the scene don't render at all. Could you check if you have enough memory to render the 6k ? You can also try turning Embree OFF - then you will most probably get errors.

    Best regards,

Hah! _ just came here to post this - I turned off embree and it seems to be working! bloody slow though.

thanks very much for the prompt reply, I would have probably died otherwise!

If you have 3D displacement, increase its edge length and then you should be able to render with Embree. Or otherwise increase the size of your swap file and it should work too.

I don't think there is any displacement. As for swap file? presumably the "windows managed" version is not good enough?

I usually set mine to 4 times the amount of RAM. So if you have 32GB, then set the min AND max to 128GB
