  • Sss too slow

I have this chocolate animation and I finally got close to a chocolate material I like, but the render time went through the roof. The fragmented faces are a blend material between the original sss and a vray material btw.
set vnext on bucket rendering to noise level 0.008 with the standard settings on, including gi.
One frame will probably take 6.5 hours on my xeon e5 v2 2.6ghz CPU at HD.
Sss is set to simple btw.
How could I ever improve on this?
7 rectangle lights in the scene, no dome.
    Any pointers?
    Thanks in advance!

hmm this sounds insanely long. Did you try vray al surface? also what gi did you use? 0.008 is also quite low. Can you post a frame of this scene here?

GI is brute force and light cache. Default settings.
what would you personally recommend as a noise level for animations?
I totally failed at Al surface. Maybe I should give it another try . Is it that much faster?

What to you mean by posting a frame? An overview of everything in the viewport?
