  • V-Ray Next: Auto Exposure and Render Region

Is Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance compatible with Render regions in the VFB? i'm having mixed results. some times it calculates properly, and some times i have to redraw the region multiple times before it engages properly.

If i turn off the region to compute the whole frame it has been working every time.

The autoexposre/wb is only based on the rendered region. If you need the region to be consistent with the whole image, you can use the button to transfer the settings to the camera and then use those for the regions.

thank you for the prompt reply, Vlado. Is it possible for this value to also be pushed to the Global Exposure control value in the 'Environment and Effects' panel? so all perspective and other views will leverage this EV?

Hm. I guess so - I need to think about it.

it would not make sense to push it to other views...each view in normal cases usually has its own auto exposure.

Instead, it woudl be great if the exposure could show somewhere so we know what value vray is using.

Like for example, currently when we right click you can see the pixel info.

It would be great if there was one more option - scene info - with various different information from the scene that were requested by user and that are hard to fit in the UI ))????

This is why they have the option to only apply auto exposure to 'views/cameras without exposure only'. Solved.

I am asking for it to push the auto exposure to the global exposure value so all views can leverage this. Often times when working in IPR I will not be in camera views, i will just be flying around the scene in a Perspective view as i build up the scene. This way you can build up a scene without cameras defined, yet.

            hope this clarifies.
