  • IPR vs active shade

I notice that the new IPR is not responding as fast as Active shade was. I also notice that change in the material often didn't update the Vray buffer. Is there something to activate or is it a bug?

I too have noticed that the VFB doesn't update all the time.

I had this problem. In my case it got fixed along the way but maybe you should send your scenes so can debug it if it is still persistent

It sounds like a bug. How can we reproduce the problem here? I haven’t had update problems here so far.

Please find on of the many problem that appear using IPR.
Light change, material change sometime works, sometime failed, sometime crash vray, sometime keep the render in loop mode.

I tried to switch to GPU to get see if the update was more functional but with no luck.

It happens with even basic scene with few box, and 4 lights....

              Hello,

Thanks for the reports and the videos.
Unfortunately the only thing I found so far is that in V-Ray GPU IPR the refresh button in the VFB actually stops the rendering till the next change you make. This will be fixed.
For the rest of the issues - first of all what is your Max version?
For the loop - can you share the scene in that video? You can strip most of the geometry as long as the loop still happens.
For the crashes - when such a crash happens Max should create a crash dump called 3dsmax_minidump.dmp in your temp folder (%temp% in windows explorer). Also for V-Ray GPU there might be additional dumps called VRay.dmp there. Could you share any dumps you have? A scene (even a simple one with few boxes and 4 lights) and steps to reproduce will also be helpful

              Best regards,
              Yavor

                hello Yavor,
                3dsmax 2016, Vray next
I will provide you the next faulty scene, that won't be long per experience with this Next version.

There is an issue with cameras in Max 2016 that causes infinite messages about changes to the camera. It happens for example if you have instanced cameras. I think Autodesk fixed it Max 2017.
For the rest of the issues - yes a scene would be very helpful.
