  • vray3.60.4 3dsmax2016 win10 VS vray 3.60.4 standalone ubuntu features unsupported

    Hello,

I have render nodes I can run from each ones HDD win10 with 3dsmax vray slave - OR - PXE boot ubuntu with vray standalone from my workpc virtualbox ubuntu server with debootstraped ubuntu folder ,
I wanted to make some testing regarding to the speed and supported features differences,

there is render time difference win10 5:25 vs ubuntu 4:22 but the result is slightly different as well.
the noise amount seems to me almost similar, but the standalone image is a bit yellowish, the multitexture has different id distribution (materialbyelement) and vraydistancetex for road crossings and parking lines does not work in standalone.

-how are render settings exported during vrscene export from 3dsmax - are they excactly the same? or is something different I should check/take care of in *.vrscene manually to achieve similar results?
-what can cause that one image is little yellowish and the other not? the 3ds max one looks a bit washed out as well...
-why is multitexture different? is the id generated for max and standalone diferently?
-is the vraydistancetex supported in vraystandalone and if not, is it going to be supported in vraystandalone next?

    win10/3dsmax:

    ubuntu/standalone:

    thanks,

    Hello,

Most of the settings should be the same when exporting vrscenes from Max to standalone.
First of all - do you get any warnings when exporting from Max - if there are unsupported textures in the scene we write to the log and it is replaced with black color in the vrscene..

Maybe some external assets (some texture file f.e) is not resolved correctly when rendering with standalone causing the differences? Do you get any warnings/errors in the standalone console when rendering?
The distance tex should work regardless of windows/linux - do you have any specific texture for its distance or near/far color ?

In any case - it would be best if you could send the Max scene to our support and they can check what is going on..

    Best regards,

Hello and thanks for the reply!

no warnings during the standalone rendering,
the vraydistancetex is used as mask for vrayblendmtl and only for its first "distance" slot I am using noise texture
scene and all archives sent to wetransfer and sending the email with link description to support@chaosgroup.com

      cheers,
