  • Latest STABLE Nvidia Driver?

Almost every time I render on wi10, max18, V-Ray3.60.04, GTX1080Ti driver 397.64... my 2 screens go black, the entire system freezes no mater if I adjust the affinity or not, and I have to blindly try to save and close 3dsmax as the GUI wont display much of anything, its almost like a screenshot and cant click on anything and this is getting seriously annoying. I might even roll back V-Ray. I have a licence of V-Ray Next but with all the recent problems I'm having with 3.6x I'm very nervous to switch in the middle of my project. And the worst part is I'm ONLY using the CPU to render and not touching the GPU which is what I find very strange. I'm assuming its the Nvidia driver and was looking for input of the last stable build that is working for most?...

Ouch, I am sorry for the issues. NVIDIA just released an update today. I didn't install it, but the last driver is working fine for me.

I believe 388 is currently the best driver to use.

We have also found out that Windows updates may sometimes mess up the driver, so reinstalling it may help.

390 has random crashes at random moments, so the message is there for a reason. Took us a while to figure it out
On some setups, it will work to a point.

Do later drivers work better? 390 is the oldest supported driver for some of the other apps I'm using...

Well .. if it works for you, don't botter. If you start getting random crashes with V-Ray GPU and you can't use 388, it will be better to update, yes.
