  • link VRayClipper to camera

I work with lots of cameras and try to fit everything in a single scene for ease of batch rendering. I'd use the clipper more if there was a way to link it to specific cameras so I didn't need to break up my batch rendering to turn on/off the clipper for cameras that use it.

Simple, just click select and link, click on the clipper object, drag to the camera, job done. If using a targeted camera, link the clipper to the cameras target.

However, I think what you really meant to say, if you would like to be able to enable the clipper for particular cameras, so if you have say three camera views, cameras 1 and 2 would have the clipper disabled, but camera 3 would have it enabled

      lol

yes I meant the latter - a way to connect a clipper to a camera so that it only affects that camera. Maybe the clipper would have an include list - makes it easier to setup multiple cameras with different clipping planes without having to deal with toggling on/off the clippers.

And don't tell me to use the scene states! That is garbage...

Yeah, someone is bound to suggest scene states but in this case, I won't. Yeah, clipping planes that only work with specific cameras, from am include/exclude list, would be cool.

I can't remember if it's only with IPR but during a very quick bit of testing, I found clipping planes not updating properly and the clip lighting geometry doesn't work properly for some reason.. Though I have rarely used clipping planes or the latest clipping objects feature. I did mess about with it, after reading you post, but can't remember if it was only IPR that was having those problems, with updating the position of the clipping plane and clipping light geometry. Oh and the use object colour, isn't working properly either. I had a simple box, removed the top poly, shelled it, to give it some thickness and the clipped section was filed with orange, despite the object having a grey texture and the object colour being black, it would only use the objects texture or this orange object colour, not the black object colour I had set.

Another thing that would be nice, is preventing some objects from being filled in.. for example, say you just throw in a couple of boxes, to use as base and wall units for a kitchen, they have doors but are in fact solid boxes behind the doors.. when you clip the kitchen top to bottom say through the units, those units get filled in, along with the walls behind them...Would be nice to have a way to prevent some objects from being filled in like that and just appear as an outline / shell, perhaps even with a given thickness
