  • VRay Top-Bottom Shader

Do you guy shave any plans to add a VRay Top/Bottom shader in the future or is there any shader already available that can do the trick? It's a very useful shader but the Default 3DSMax one does not work with VRay GPU.

    Thanks!

You can work with Vray Distance Tex: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...RayDistanceTex

Thanks for the suggestion! Can you lock this to an object or is purely based on distance? As I'm sure you know, Max Top/Bottom Material is object based, and you can set to world or local axis.

If I would have to do this I would model a box (that drives the distance map) or similar, underneath my object, hide from rendering and link that to my object, then whatever the object does, the distance object thingy goes along with it. Or you can just use a gradient ramp to blend 2 materials and skip the whole distance tex thing. Lots of options. I'm sure there are even more than these 2.

Have you tried Falloff with Distance Blend mode? You can also pick a custom node with it. I don't know if Vray GPU supports those features, though.

Yeah, there's towards away mode which you can set to world z but again not sure if it's supported, my home license expired recently!
