  • End of render text

2019 and still no way to get a text when my render ends. When my doorbell rings my office TV turns on with a view of my front door, when I get a tweet my lights blink, but I can't get notified when my render ends.

Yeah Autodesk introduced email notifications years ago, but far as I know, nobody to get it to work and I think Autodesk rather than just remove the feature, stopped developing it.. I'd imagine it would be a fairly simple thing to add to V-Ray though, since it only needs to know that the render is complete.. to be able to send a simple text message and the number to send it to, must be easier doing that, than setting up email notification in Max..... Would be handy if someone already made a script for this, though I imagine you have already gone that route

I think to get MAX's notification to work you needed your own SMTP server or something. Sometimes I literally sleep in my office, waking up every so often to check on things and it would be nice to simply get a text notification when things are done. I know I can log in remotely, and I do, but why wake up when it has 45 minutes until it is done? https://ifttt.com integration would be cool beans. Blink my bedroom light when the render is done.

Interesting. I have always avoided Skype, but it might have improved over the years. I'll check it out, thanks!

No way! "Okay, Google" When render completes, raise the head of my bed, turn on my TV and show me my 3DS MAX screen.

You could propably to stuff with the post-render-script. All kinds of stuff can be called and done via scripting, also apllication-external stuff. You'd have to be a programmer/scripter or hire one though propably.
                Software:
                Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
                3ds Max 2016 SP4
                V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

                Hardware:
                Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
                64GB RAM

The script could be fairly simple with a commandline tool like SMS-It. You will problably need a subscription to an SMS gateway too!

Email, Smartphone push notifications and SMS at render end or errors would be awesome. Maybe develop a smartphone app with a remote vfb?
Ah I should stop dreaming of such luxury

Well, there are notifications if you render on the V-Ray cloud; not sure what it would take to integrate this into V-Ray itself...

                      Best regards,
