  • Automatically apply denoising when stopping a render from the VFB

Sometimes if I click the red stop button in VFB denoising isn't applied even if I have it turned on. I need to go in Render Elements and click on the Update button in order to get the denoised result which are extra unnecessary steps IMHO. Would it be possible for Vray to apply denoising when stopping a render from within the VFB?

One day denoising will be unnecessary, processing speed, GPU's will all be so fast, you won't have to clean up anything, because it will be truly instant. That said, I think the problem here is not the extra unnecessary steps, but the fact that you didn't give the VFB time to apply the effect before stopping it. It's easy to tell if it's done it or not, when it shows "effectresult" in the drop down, rather than RGB etc.... Thing is turning it on, doesn't make it instant, it needs the image to reach a certain level of noise, before it is applied and stopping it prematurely and having to go into Render Elements, isn't such a hardship in my opinion.

The problem is, I did wait for the denoise effect to apply and I could see the effectsResult channel in VFB but right after I stopped the render the effectsResult channel disappeared and I was left with only the RGB channel and the auxiliary channels that the denoiser generates (noiseLevel etc.). Not sure what's all that about. I will try to figure out the reproduction steps and record a video.

Post effects (denoiser and/or lens effects) are applied only on render end and on render stop and not on render cancel.

        "Esc" key = cancel
"Cancel" button in render progress window = cancel
        "Stop" VFB button = cancel
"Stop" button in render progress window = stop
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Why not making it "Stop" then? Would be much better!

I am thinking the same thing. The only reason I can think of is if you're doing a very high-res rendering where applying denoising + a complex lens effect might take a while due to the amount of pixels that need to be processed.

Maybe something multi-purpose: Clicking the stop button in the VFB stops with Lens Effects and Denoiser, CTRL+Stop is cancelling without these effects.
