  • Split off Deep information into a separate image sequence?

    Hi,
We were wondering if there's a way to render Deep .exr , but have the deep info into a separate image sequence or something. Not sure if I'm asking the right question, but the main goal is better data management. Right now deep sequences are heavy on their own, and if you take into account the network bandwidth in a studio environment, they become a nightmare to load. For example, for non deep sequences there's the multi-part solution that enables us to read sequences significantly faster and if there's a way to have the deep info rendered in another frame buffer we can have all of the channels "multi-parted" (easy to load), separated from the deep info. Is that possible, or if not does it sound possible in the near future?

    Best regards,

Which application are you rendering from? In both 3ds Max and Maya we have ways to generate an additional regular output for preview purposes.

      Hi Vlado,

      Here's the state of things:

      - we render the bulk of the image in a multipart exr, no deep. This allows us to benefit from quick loading times (multipart) and the DWAA compression to dramatically shrink files, which is great
      - we render deep separately. We don't need all the render elements in deep samples, and deep EXRs don't support multipart or compression
      - we use the deep recolor node in nuke to put the deep data and the rest together

That's workable, but it would be awesome if we could have the deep data as a separate render element, this would spare us the extra render.

      Thanks!
