  • i would pay 300$ for...

a vray upgrade with rock solid DR.
with distributed lightcache, maps, backburner support, no host-not-found errors, no network directory hassles, no other strange problems.
basically i want DR to work the same way and reliability as backburner rendering.

the lack of reliable/useable DR is the only thing that annoys me with vray, everything else runs rock solid and predictable for me.
there are some features i also miss, like nicer materials, support for more max tools...but that's all minor things.
vray has been great to me recently, i don't remember when it crashed the last time, the lightcache is amazing and extremely fast.
all in one, everything works great, except DR which feels like a big hack.
i wouldn't mind paying for an upgrade.

I agree and .. it's true when u say that it seems really stable now.

I'm working on a more than 4million polygon exterior scene, with trees , people and tons of Vrayproxies, without visible problems... and with gr8 rendertimes.

Sure with a stable DR (..and.. Distributed GI also) would be really perfect.

      Thanks,
      Marco

I agree the DR is regulary a waste of time because of too many problems (the bigest one is when you forget unchecking DR before launching a classic Net Render).

I agree as well. DR is the #1 issue with me. Fix it and I will be a very happy user.

that can be so annoying, especially when it sits in the queue and doesn't fail until the middle of the night.

We have been doing some improvements to DR recently to make it more robust and with support for region/blowup rendering; so hopefully it will be more usable.

                    Best regards,

                          great to hear that-

                          focus on a robust DR

                          and please a warning pop-up
or automatic disabling for backburner DR enabled anims.
                          Reflect, repent and reboot.
                          Order shall return.

That is wonderful news. I agree with the previous posts that DR is currently VRay's weakest link. It will be a happy day when it's stable.
