  • Keep VFB settings when swirtching between Vray CPU and GPU

I've asked this before, and the reply is "they are different renderers and we don't want people to think of them as interchangeable" - but that makes no sense.

Firstly, elements are kept when you switch between them.

Secondly, yeah, guess what, people switch between the renderers a lot - something goes wrong with GPU and you switch to CPU, or you want to see if your scene works in GPU and is faster, so you switch.

It's just a realistic version of how people actually work.

So please, at least keep the VFB settings - exposure/curves etc.

Make life easier for us - or give us a dialogue.

What about switching between V-Ray, the Scanline renderer, and then to V-Ray GPU? Should the settings be kept in that case? We are actually working on this right now, so we want to make sure we do the expected thing

    Best regards,

      +1 here
switching between Vray CPU and GPU should keep the render setup settings along VFB settings imo .
on the other hand switching to other renderer usually is the way I use to force reset render settings, so unless there is a new one click button to do that , I would ask to keep the behavior as is now .
      Thanks

I would prefer the VFB settings to be kept on a per user basis, personally.
Of course, an easy way to reset them would be welcome, in that case.

Ideally changing render might toggle a dialogue box with what to keep and what not to keep.

I would say maybe just keep all the settings that you can - after all it's not a reset buttonn.

It would be cool to be able to switch over to scanline if you have to do some weird thing and then come back again without losing settings.
