  • shutterOpening motion blur parameter

    Hi there!

I was googling some Katana stuff yesterday and ran into a page of Prman's documentation, describing the motion blur settings.
It has a "shutterOpening" parameter which allows all those sweet adjustments of the blur!

I wonder if it is possible to implement in VRay, as shutterOpenTime and shutterCloseTime are already working in Vray for Katana?

Here's the link to the mentioned prman docs:
    https://rmanwiki.pixar.com/display/REN23/Shutter

    Thanks in advance!

    hi Martin,
I think you are talking about the Shutter efficiency.

Shutter efficiency – In real world cameras, the shutter requires some time to open and close which in turn affects the way motion blur looks. This is especially true for lenses with large apertures. To simulate this effect, the shutter efficiency parameter controls how the motion blur samples are distributed over the time interval of the shot. A value of 1 means that the samples are evenly distributed, as if the change from open to shut (or shut to open) is instant. Lower values place more samples towards the middle of the time interval to correspond to the open or close operation taking a small time interval, as occurs in real life.

      Hi!
I'm aware of the shutter efficiency parameter, but it provides a common value for both opening and closing.
Please see the examples in the prman docs, for the custom curve one can apply, and really customize the appearance of motion blur. This in particular is what I'm talking about.
