Hi!
I wish VRay would provide a solution to render objects as volumes. The option to take objects as gizmos for the VRay Environment Fog is still there, i know, but using maps is terrible because of the work in world space only limitation.
A good example how it can and should simply work is the PRT Volume Object of Krakatoa:
https://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/pr...y_volumes.html
You just pick the object and use the menue command "Create PRT Volume(s) from selected Object(s)" and a volume is generated from the selected object. Mapping and colors will be transfered directly - simple and correct - without any workarrounds.
For render you can use use the "Krakatoa Atmospheric" environment effect (https://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/pr...ic_effect.html) - this even works well with VRay ... BUT this takes a Krakatoa License ... so rendering with the need for licenses from two different renderers at the same time seems not a good solution to me.
Even Arnold provides a solution for object based volumes:
https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/disp...AF3DSUG/Volume
I think it's about time that VRay closes this gap.
... Should It allready be possible, then shame on me, please let me know hot to achieve it.
Thanks in advance!
