  • Version of PhoenixFDParticleTexture in VRay

    Hi!

In reference to this two threads I like to request if you could bring and ship a version of PhoenixFDParticleTexture directly with VRay (like you did with PHXSimulator and VRayVolumeGrid) for particle shading and rendering purposes using values from particle data channels.

In this thread Aleksandar said, that shading of the instanced geometry with VRayInstancer by particle color is not possible:

But here Ivaylo made the suggestion to try a combination of VRayInstancer and PhoenixFDParticleTexture:
    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...article-shader

Ivaylos solution works. I made a quick test. Scene file can be downloaded here: http://download.stollvongati.com/Sto...ticleColor.zip .
Maybe you have to redirect the asset pathes to make it work.

Unfortunately the accessibilty of particle channel data, especially across different particle sources, is actually very limited (works just with particles that come directly from PHXSimulators), but the principle is working and the Phoenix team is working on it.

The reason why I ask for this is because VRayInstancer is a VRay tool but has no option to shade particles with the color from their own color channel (or any other particle data channel) and PhoenixFDParticleTexture is a PhoenixFD tool that provides thoose functionallities. So this two tools are spreaded over two plugins but in my opinion they belong together to bring a powerful particle rendering solution to VRay.

    Greetings!
