  • VFB fully accessible with maxscript

    Hey there!

    I know this is a known issue that is yet to be added, but do you guys have a release date for this?
    This is really important for the pipeline of the compagny I'm working for (around 270 vray licenses (and probably +300 next year)).

    Do you think it's going to be added before August?
    Thank you and congrats again for the amazing release!

    Hello,

    Can you share (here or with support) which parts of the MAXScript VFB access are most important for your pipeline so we can get them ready first ?

    Best regards,
    Yavor

      Hey!

      No problem, here's the list

      Must have:
      -> Start/stop a bucket renderer
      -> Start/stop a progressive renderer
      -> Start/pause/refresh a IPR renderer
      -> ACES (possibility to setup everything in the VFB)
      -> position of the VFB
      -> size of the render

      wish list:
      -> size of VFB window
      -> close VFB

      Do you guys are changing a lot of expressions regarding the VFB? Or will you try to keep as much as possible the naming of functions? Like vrayStartIPR() and stuff.

        You can already control the renderer, it's either max of v-ray, not the vfb (i.e. render(), renderers.current to change sampling type, and vray*IPR().).

        I'd like also full control of the history (including the ability to read and write into the comments for the images), while compositing layers' access can -for me- be left for later.

          We'll try to keep as much as possible in the naming - so things like vrayStartIPR() stay the same. The main change will be related to the color corrections - as VFB2 has a layered structure with possibly multiple corrections of the same type, we'll need to change the way those are accessed.

          -> Start/stop a bucket renderer
          -> Start/stop a progressive renderer
          -> Start/pause/refresh a IPR renderer
          Those remain unchanged and should already be available and working.

          -> ACES (possibility to setup everything in the VFB)
          We'll try to get that one soon and if possible - with the same commands as before.

          -> size of the render
          That's part of the regular MAXScript access - so it should already be available and working.

          -> position of the VFB
          -> size of VFB window
          -> close VFB
          We'll also try to get those ready and they should be the same as before

            Thank you!
            You think this could be part of future release (before august? This is the time of the year we decide with which vray version we're going to work for the entire year.)

            Thanks again!

              We'll try to put them in the publicly available stable nightly builds as soon as they are tested.

                  Most of what you've mentioned here is already ready in our internal builds and I hope it will go in the public builds soon.

                    The changes are now available in stable nightly builds from 15.07 and later (build number 30215 and later). It would be great if you could test them and see if anything is missing.

                      Thank you!

                      Well, we haven't bought the version 5 licenses yet, so it's not possible to try this out, is it?
                      Is it possible to have a temporary NFR license or be part of th beta test program?

                        You should be able to install the 1 month trial ?
