  • Vray light bitmap support

Me and my friend were wondering if its possible to add this feature to vraylight/vray dome, to be able to support any bitmap i.e. jpg or hdri for vray light to illuminate using bitmap pixels.
The advantage of this is its faster. but produses hi quality soft shadows, like quasi. So u can use low quality blurry iradiance map for gi and domelight for hi quality soft shadows which are impossible with iradiance.

    Thanks.

I had the wish of texmap support (gradient ramp) for the vray dome light yesterday myself... It would be nice to also have a checkbox to enable that texmap as a 3ds max enviroment map.

I ended up using the old hemisphere technique and a VRayLightMtl. This gives fast results. The trick is to make the hemisphere a matte object so that you get a an alpha.
