  • VRayLightMtl annoyance

Is there any way you guys can make it so we can see the bitmaps plugged into a VRayLightMtl in the viewport? This has been annoying me forever.

as a workaround, make the color black, then the texture should show up

Wow, thanks! All these years, I never knew you could do that. Though it doesn't show up as 100% emissive, like it does if you use a standard material with 100% illumination, which is what I really want.

You can see them with the "realistic mtls with maps" mode of the viewport. I'll check with the devs if we can workaround it so the maps be always visible regardless of the mode.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

In fact this is standard 3ds Max behavior - maps are mixed with the self illumination color. All self illumination materials do the same, including Physical Material, Standard (Legacy) and VRayMtl.
