Hello,
Finally managed to fully switch to Vray 5, which overall is great but the new frame buffer is just weirdly put together. I do realize that it is something that might need getting used to, that is why i took 3-4 week to work with it first.
I do not have a list with specifics, so i am aware that my post might not be the most helpful one, but i will try to shine light of some of the things that i find odd.
- History - this do me is the most annoying change. Anything i would like to do with history, i have to go isnite to options/vfb setting/history, then do my setup there and then i even have to save the changes, because if i dont it will all revert back, which happened very often since there was never need for that before.
Previous history wasn't ideal either so i dont mind to update it by why to make it so complicated ? To have button right there on the left side where history window is is way more comfortable and making sense than having it hidden in options.
- Buttons overall - this can absolutely be just me, but i simply am having trouble getting used to new button design, they dont stand out and are not exactly clear always. Here i would also mention that the correction layers have Hide button not in the "box" so when the layer is actually hidden, that button doesn't exist and you kinda have to guess click. Once you know this you obviously know that you need click "somewhere there", but why not to have a box for it.
- render passes dont have corrections applied to them - this as option would be great but, by default i cannot have correction applied once i switch to the render elements. For various reasons this is not helpful. If i would have to pick i would rather have correction always visible. best would be to have simply option to turn them on and off ( as i think it was before ).
- there is not clear understanding on how the vfb correction layers stack, - it is hard to determine how the order should be, after almost a month it is still a guessing game. If i use LUT and also exposure control, it sometimes depends what is on top, sometimes it doesnt, and sometimes it works but it looks like it lost the 32 bit range.
These are some things that i am able to pin point of top of my head.
I obviously very much appreciate the updates and I do understand that thought and efforts went into it, love Vray
But some things, mainly for example the History thing, is really really annoying :0, sorry to say.
Not sure if i am the only one (should have searched for possible previous entries on this), but i wanted to post anyways as it might be adressed.
Thank you very much,Have a good one.
