  • Add Mask to "Denoiser" Layer

I like applying Denoiser to walls, but I don't like how it blurs fibre, leather, and things behind glass.
How nice it would be if we can add a mask to the Denoiser layer!

Sorry for the late reply. Yes! Please! It would be great to add Cryptomatte masks here that we can control where denoise is applied, like other layers like Curves and Exposure. Then we can totally give up photoshop!

Hi you can use the "composite" mode of the VFB:

As you can see if we go to Composite we can stack the RGB (no denoising) above the VRayDenoiser layer and we get the desired effect.
We can use folders as well so if we have other layers related to the glass we can use the same mask applied to the folder.

After further discussion we decided to log a new issue for the denoiser mask so it will be developed and implemented in the future. Logged under VMAX-12831.

The Denoiser layer now has masking in V-Ray 6.1.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
