  • VrayDecal - MatID

So I am working on some dataprep right now for a client job and because their product comes in various colors I am using multi/sub-object as base adn then using VraySwitchMtl to hold all these different multi-sub to have easy color option switching. Everything is working excelleing and I couldn't be happier.
One thing that I ran into one of their products doesn't have the branding modeled into the cad, so I used Vray Decal to add the logo. Easy peasy. However, now that I am switching the color options the logo has to also change colors VrayDecal doesn't have a matid option so now I have to make sure on this model I manually assign the different logo color based on hero spec.
If Vray can in the future add this it would be amazing but honestly I can see why they wouldn't. I have been using vray for as long as I can remember and this is the first time I ran into needing this option so I can understand there is no real purpose to invest time/money into adding this, but figured id ask lol.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Why not use another VRaySwitchMtl for the VRayDecal? You can put the same Switch map driver, f.e a BezierFloat controller plugged in the switch_number parameter (you need to show the Additional Parameters to see it), for both shaders. This way, they'l be controlled together.

Yeah I am doing a seperate material just for the decal of the vraydecal now, earlier I was trying to keep it all as confined to 1 master multi/sub as possible.
Always work arounds no problem which is also why I mentioned this addition would be cool but def not a crazy issue at all lol
