  • Vray Scene Converter - Convert Imported Revit Cosmos Proxies

When importing a Revit file into 3ds Max that was previously rendered with Vray for Revit and had cosmos proxies in it, the proxies come in as regular (low res) geometry labeled "Cosmo ________". I think it would be helpful to have the Vray Scene Converter tool also be able to convert those imported cosmos proxies into actual cosmos proxies.

I'm currently working on a project that needs switched from Revit to 3ds Max and it has a ton of proxies that need re-setup, and this would be very helpful. I've read i can export the vrscene file, but when i tried it, nothing exported correctly. Only a proxy was exported and its geometry was messed up. Plus, i want to be able to move things around and have full functionality.

Nothing to do with the scene converter, rather with the I/O between applications.
Would you be so kind as to provide for more info: the revit file with a proxy in it, the exact steps you used to export and import, and the max file with the proxy imported wrong?

For the normal 3ds Max Revit file importer File > Import > Import..., I wouldn't expect it to handle Vray elements correctly. It correctly imports everything else, it just doesn't handle the extra stuff vray adds like materials and high res proxy models.

When i tried to import the vrscene file with drag and drop into viewport, it looks like it actually imports correctly, but it only looks correct in the render. All though, i guess with the units i have the projects set as, it imports really small. The model in the viewport is messed up and seems to be scaled weird. If i start a render the model appears normal, but the viewport doesn't match what the render shows.

I've attached files for both import methods. My preference would be importing with the normal method and have the converter covert things for Vray. That way I have full access to the individual elements/proxies.

I had trouble posting this reply. I kept getting the error in the image attached. If this reply gets posted, it seems to be what you said, having brackets in the text since I now removed them.

          Thanks.
