Is it possible to treat buckets the same way that backburner treats frames. therefore if i bucket fails during a DR render rather than having to restart the render maybe that bucket and its information can be cleared and be allowed to be re-calculated. therefore either it might work the 2nd time or it might be taken up by another processor on the network (not sure if this makes sence but it would be a nice idea)

    Good idear.

Only thing is, I wonder if vray knows that bucket didn't work. Black buckets seem to take just as long as good ones, and I don't see an error reported when buckets don't render.

If it could be done, I like your idea. (I'd rather not get black buckets at all though. )

V-Ray does that already - if a DR machine fails, its buckets are reassigned to other machines. However, if a bucket renders wrongly (f.e. because of missing maps), V-Ray cannot detect this case.

            Vlado-

But what about the infamous black buckets that seem to be working until they "complete" processing and show nothing? If those were just missing maps, it would seem that we would see a rendering with missing textures.

No, please re-send it. We had power outage for most of today so the email server was offline.
