May be I'm wrong about the link 
but if not:
A simple SSS with just a subdiv parameter where the others were linked to the IOR, with a good table of ior we could make every mtl we want.
In fact I found SSS simple but not enought logic about the parameters, the thinkness isn't the thinkness isn't it?
