Might be cool to have a realistic Fog/Haze that is linked to the turbidity & ozone settings. I was looking at the Preetham link in the sun/sky entry in the manual and noticed the images with the fog/haze and thought they really added a nice touch to the images. Granted you'd probably need a really large scene to see the effects like this but it's pretty cool. Maybe even just a checkbox in the physical camera to include atmospheric fog.

It´s not only pure "fog" actually. Preetham et. al. call it Aerial Perspective, and it includes blueshift, loss of detail (or was that on nightscenes) etc...the usual fog implementation wont do the trick. The equations can be simplified, but i think there´s still some integrals left if i recall right :P

Hence the name..."PhysicalFog" Although it would be best probably if there was a multiplier to scale the effect.

Yep, this is planned once we get the existing things nice and stable

Oh....and make it automatically react to lights.....so they affect the atmosphere around them

                    yeah those are pretty sweet.
The rendertimes could use a little boost tho

                    Nice additions to the render..

So just so I understand, these are new features being worked on for a future release of VRay? I'm trying to achieve a similar volumetric fog effect and the standard volumetric fog effect in Max coupled with a VRayPhysicalCam just isn't working.

If you are using just the exponential fog, you need to boost the fog color way beyond white to make it visible.

                            Hi,

Just as a side note to my tests above. There are talks in the management in my company right now that I might get time to work on this project at working time. This could eventually lead to a usable plugin then. But I have the suspicion that this won't get a free plugin then.

                            We will see...

                            Best regards,

                            Dieter
