  • Documentation pleaaaaase !

When will VRay have a real, usable and efficient documentation ?
I know that changes occurs "on every builds and even between builds",
but I don't think people using VRay in Tv or animation production install new builds so often...
And it's not difficult to update a dowloadable PDF the same way the actual online html is updated.
For ex : I really miss a true search function in the actual one.

I think I'll create a "Pro Doc for a Pro Soft" association !

if i really need a search in the docs (wich i hardly ever do, as i find them to be very well structured actually) i simply use google and add "site:spot3d.com" to the end of my search term...works like a charm

    e.g.

    http://www.google.de/search?hl=en&as...om&btnG=Search

i actually prefer the html over the pdf version...i'd prefer compiled html (chm) even more, but i would hate to have acrobat open all the time, or open it just to wait half a minute for the stupid app to load :P

      I searched : interpolation site:spot3d.com
only one result ... and ... the page doesn't exist !

...I think a good old PDF/CHM/anything would be much better.

Thanks for the tip Thorsten, I think I'll use it anyway.

Someone compiled a .chm version of the docs (about 100MB) which I think you can still find here on the forum.

        Best regards,

And on top of that, seeing as 1.5 final is not released, I think having any hard copy manual wouldnt be so good anyway, as things are still changing.

Im sure once 1.5 final is out, the chaos chaps will make a nice PDF/CHM manual for use all

As even the one that was created awhile ago is now badly out of date.

Personally... the current documentation is not so bad...

There's still work to do but... it's ok...

            I think...

by badly out of date I meant the CHM file that was made from the website docs by one of the users.

The website docs are fairly up to date except for a few areas.

I think that the search engine isn't needed.
Is there enought things to do it?
Chapter are good and clear not too much info. (may be not enough )
the anly thing is that when you are without web connexion you haven't access to it.
here the chm or the PDF would be good.
                IMHO
                =:-/

maybe a user created wiki is the way to go....??? ....it could be incorporated with the forums, so questins are not repeated.
