  • Pause rendring option

    Hello Vlado,

Ive been wondering whether it would be complicated to incorporate pause rendering option either to rendering dialogue or VFB.

Sometimes one needs to free some processing power to do minor system tasks while rendering. I find it hard to do that sometimes as the rendering proces completely takes over the system resources...ive got 4gigs, win64bit and dual core processor and even with this combination, multitasking while rendering is impossible.

    Best regards

Open the task manager, go to the Processes tab, find the 3dsmax.exe process, right-click on it and choose Set Priority > Below normal and click Yes in the next dialog box. This will allocate less processor time for the 3dsmax process and you will be able to do other things.

Alternatively, check the "Low priority threads" option in the V-Ray System rollout.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

just set max´s priority in the taskmanager to lower then normal and the system will take care of the balancing. Another option would be "low thread priority" in the vray system rollout. There´s also a script that set´s max´s priority to below normal on startup.

      Regards,
      Thorsten

Well, yeah, any cpu you use is not being used by the render so yes it will be slower. Faster though than if you just paused it.
