Micha, is it Paul Oblomov's scene i am looking for?
That rar has no textures, no materials, nothing but grey geometry.
I meant for you to share your rhino scene.
There are demo versions of both VfR and Rhino, which not only will allow for an apples to apples comparison, but also for troubleshooting of material settings ( should there be any need for it) and observation of general scene setup.
If i set it up in max, we'll keep trading different issues, vray versions and scene setups.

@ene.xis: Memory should not be the problem. My first idea was a modified PPT based on a LC cache. This I can not test now, so I got the idea of the PQMC. So, the bucket problem could be solved by a mofied PPT and the memory usage will be not more than PPT. And people use PPT or Maxwell for production.

@Lele: Great. I had not thought that you could start with Rhino. I will post the scene tomorrow. Thanks.
I had not found the original Paul Oblomov's scene with textures, you will get my with textures.

        Lele, here the Rhino scene:

        www.simulacrum.de/download/MRsceneRhino.rar

The current VfR dosn't support pack&go for textures, so you must set all texture paths manual again. Sorry, the next SR will fix it.
        Thanks.

          Heh
Want my scene to test ? No problemo. But, as I remember I converted scene to max9 format and etc

P.S. Me too betatested VRfRh, but since I'm using Rh4 only and no rh4 build were available, had to go for nPower nurbs solution. But, helped VRfRh developers too with tons of bug reports

          Rendertime optimized for 10minutes (x2 4600).

          Cheers.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Paul, if you find a little time, please try to test the Rhino PPT. Open my scene, change the texture paths and ... .

            RH4 build is very near.

Upps, you deinstalled Rh3. Thanks to install again.

If you test my scene file - please render first without any change, so we can better compare my time with yours. Good luck.

                  Micha:
Look at my post count.... you think thats relevant to anything it means nothing other than I post alot more than other people.. often crap but hey (which atleast I can admit)

Also LC+QMC, by that I assume you mean LC for first bounce and QMC for second bounce, then that is a waste of time as the QMC is completely ignored for 2nd bounce. You would be better off with LC/LC or QMC/LC.

@DaForce: ... my method based on LC for sec GI and QMC for prim GI. The LC is calculated in the first pass, so I have named it LC/QMC. But to avoid confusion I will write it prim/sec - QMC/LC now.
But it dosn't matter so much, because my example renderings should be interesting anyway - PQMC looks better than PPT!!!
Is nobody interested to test it?

I'm working on the scene now, but i picked some oddities in the materials which i think will sway results a bit.
Samples for glossy reflections at .85 glossiness were set between 44 and 77.
That will have some serious impact on rendertime, despite the method used, especially if we're talking about the floor and similar wide objects...

                            I'll keep on testing...
