  • Exclude Host Machine in DR Mode

I would like to be able to Not use the host machine whilst using DR sometimes.. reason being is that i work from home most evenings and use my laptop to set up scene's ect and render using remote DR connected to my renderfarm in my office, so a little check box excluding the host machine would be great to free up my vaio's cpu.

    Just a thought..

If you have a quad-core, dual-core or even just hyper-threading you can turn one of the processors off for max or viz. This helps a ton with being able to use your computer while it's rendering. You can open another session of max or viz and work on something else...or sometimes it's nice just to be able to check email while rendering!!!

You can also set the 3dsmax Process Priority from the Task manager to "Below normal". Also, there is an option "Low thread priority" in the V-Ray system rollout which will do a similar thing automatically.
