  • Custom Lens Models

It's an option present in both the LW 9.2 advanced camera and the fR stage 1 V2 release.

Basically one can model a custom shape for a lens, UVMap it, and choose that as a lens model.

It would be stunning to replicate accurately lens types, but it's also plain fun to deform a simple lens and see what happens...

Not a priority by any means, but i can see it being fun

I think in addition to that it would be great to have the ability to set the attributes to replicate a certain camera and lens and save it as a preset so you could build a library of cameras.

Indeed for preset storing purpose, i would love to think about a custom mesh format, akin to IES lights distribution files, where one would store a few parameters, and the software would interpolate a mathematically correct shape out of them (ie. no poligonal infos, just a few relief knots specified, not far removed from nurbs/patches concepts).

It surely has potential, in my eyes.

i have never looked into Maxwell, but a friend told me that they have some kind of preset lenses or something of that sort available. he even mentioned one lens that had a scratch on it.
