  • Browse settings while rendering

This refers to MAX, but would be great in other packages too.

When using Brazil you can click through the Render settings and Material editor. Its really useful to be watching the render (how slow its going) and be able to double check your GI settings while its going.

    Its simple, but actually useful.

Yeah I have often thought this could be somewhat handy.

There may well be a reason why its not implemented tho.

i specifically remember asking about this several years ago. I believe that vlado said something about inking every last drop of speed out of vray, which limited its interactivity during render. Of course vlado could speak more on this. I loved what you could do with brazil while it was rendering. I even think I remember changing color swatches and stuff in the mat editor and watching it change on a bucket. But I haven't used brazil since its beta days.

yeah you could even change things while it was rendering, but mostly I just found cruising the settings the most useful.

I understand it would cause a performance hit, and thats probably not worth it.

Maybe adding pertinent (or even selectable) settings to be displayed on the Frame stamp like the sampling, qmc info, GI switches..

It is in the script pack, yes.
              Called VRay Rendertime Infos.
Not sure it's all-encompassing, but it works.
Let me know if you feel something's amiss from it, and i may be able to add it in.

EDIT: as a side note, it has no performance impact whatsoever: everything is done before the render process starts.

Nice thought, maybe there could be a button in the VFB-viewer that could open a window showing all the vrayrender-settings? Personally i wouldn't need it to be interactive, but it's good to be able to check the current settings while the render runs.

Lele, thx for the script now i just need a 20-line stamp :P
