  • VraySphereFade - Alpha Control

    Howdy,

Would it be possible to have control of the VraySpereFade Atmospherics alpha contribution? This would allow for a more straight forward compositing approach for animated objects.

What kind of control do you need? E.g. a simple spinner for the alpha contribution instead of an on/off swtich?

    Best regards,

      Vlado,

I suppose it wouldn't really matter whether it was a spinner or an On/Off button, as long as the objects behind the atmos are excluded from the alpha as well. So... not to get too excited by your response, it can be done??

Well, I am not quite sure what you want to get as a result; there is an option to turn on/off the alpha of VRaySphereFade, but I assume this is not what you need... can you perhaps show me some examples?

        Best regards,

          Vlado,

Here are some examples of what we are trying to achieve. The scene had a sphere with a plane underneath it, the plane is a matte object with matte shadows enabled.

Render - with VraySpereFade occluding surrounding environment.

Alpha - RC3 result with VraySpereFade active.

Alpha - 1.5 Final with VraySphereFade active and alpha toggled.

Alpha - Desired result. Object rendered with direct & gi shadows as matte.

I hope this information helps. Also would it be possible to have this implemented for RC3. We are not currently ready to make the move to 1.5 as we are currently mid production.

            Vlado,

My bad, it looks like the Vray MtlWrapper settings were taking priority over the Vray objects properties, All is well and working in 1.5 final.

            Cheers
