I think the tiles procedural map in MAX is a pretty decent solution in itself but heres where i think it could be improved:
1. Make a VRay shader of the same concept.
2. Make the tile/brick texture local to each individual brick
3. An option for the ability to randomly cycle through a set of individual brick textures and/or procedural maps. (somewhat similar to the belden and acme brick programs online)
