  • Auto-Increment vrimg file names

I would like to see an option to auto-increment raw file names for still pictures as well as animations.
This would make less likely to accidentally overwrite a rendered picture, and make batch rendering to raw files easier as well.
Even better would be to give us some "global variables" to use in the filenames, like %date, %time, %camera, %frame, %timecode, %autoincrement etc similar to in the frame stamps.

When I'm at it I'd also like to request the option to embed frame stamps in raw files and to "render to region" to raw files. (Do I remember reading somewhere this is already implemented but not linked up?)

I think rendering to a region works fine with the raw file (.vrimg at any rate; .exr files seem to have an issue with this).

As for the auto-increment, would it not be more meaningful to add a warning if you attempt to overwrite the file?

          Best regards,

Both would be useful for sure, but to have the ability to use variables in the filenames would be a huge advantage for batch rendering and the like.
The two aren't really mutually exclusive either. If you used the same variable file name and it found a file with the same name, a warning would still be nice to have.
It doesn't sound like it would be too difficult to implement. Wouldn't require any changes in the UI or anything. Just to use the same variables as in the frame stamps (maybe with a few additions).

The region rendering is only a problem if "render to memory frame buffer" is disabled.

Yes, I agree about the variables, they could be useful.

Thanks for the pointer about the region rendering!

                Hello.
Are variables im vrimg file name implemented?
It would be nice to be able to use %filename or %camera
                Any updates on this issue?
                Thanks
