  • LWF Diffuse Default Gamma

    Hi Vlado

With so many people using lwf, I think it would make a lot of sense to have a default gamma for the diffuse color swatch, where you could type in your prefered gamma. It would fit well in the global switches.

Otherwise im continually having to use vraycolour map.

    Thanks

I had the same thought this week. Good idea.

In V-Ray SP3, there is a "Linear workflow" check-box that automatically applies the correct gamma correction to all material colors.

      Best regards,

Wow! Can't wait! Next thing you know Mental Ray will magically "invent" the same thing and add it in the next release.

My diffuse color swatches have been working correctly recently. Not sure what changed but I was using the VrayColor to correct my swatches, then those particular materials started showing up too dark...I tried moving the color to a default swatch and it has been working fine for the past few projects with these types of materials. I am using Max Design 2009 with Service Pack 1 and Creativity Extension. In my gamma preference settings I do have the Affect Color Selectors and Affect Material Editor boxes ticked, options that were not available with Viz.

I was hoping in a "Siggraph SP3" but maybe some more works has to be done
...any idea about its release date?
Anyone attended the VRay meeting has something cool to share with us?

Will this also work for not only just mat colours, but also for bitmap texture colors?
              Kind Regards,

Anything attached to the diffuse color, regardless whether it's a texture or a simple color.

                Best regards,

Could you include a un-gamma for stuff like gradient ramps and procedurals etc. used in other material slots that shouldn't be gamma corrected?
Would be a lot more handy than having to do it manually, unless I'm being a complete 'tard for enabling it in the gamma prefs in the first place.
