  • Vrimg compression

    Hello Vlado,

Is it possible to add compression in .vrimg because we are currently working on a Cg animation at 3840x1636 and vray output more than 500Mb file... a little heavy...

    200 Frames : 75GB...

We only have a 1.2Tb file server

    Hope it's possible...

    Best regards...

The absence of compression relates to the original idea of creating an image format that allows for arbitrary writing bucket by bucket instead of scanline based.

Any reason not to use EXR ?

    Thorsten

I notice that .vrimg format with VFB are more stable than exr.
I've got more "error: [VFBCore::SetRegion] Error writing render region to raw image file" with exr and vfb...

We are also currently working on a vrming2exr GUI to automate conversion on many images sequences...

Maybe there is a way to keep the advantage of saving vrimg for memory saving and add compression to lower lan transfer and space usage... It's just a wish

      Best regards...

It is certainly possible to add compression to the .vrimg format (similarly to how we added compression to .vrmesh files); there have been requests for that so it is possible that it will be implemented.

        Best regards,
        Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
